Climate activists glued themselves to the Munich-Fürstenried exit on Monday morning, blocking rush-hour traffic on the Autobahn 95 into the city for hours.

Munich – climate activist Benjamin Rückert (21) lives dangerously.

It wasn't the first time that the man from Munich stuck himself on a lane.

The anger of the motorists is taken into account.

But on Monday (May 16) one of these actions in Munich escalated.

A driver freaked out and pulled out a baton.

Munich: Activists block the A95 exit – angry drivers pull out a baton

It all started when Rückert sat down at around 8 a.m. with two other activists from the Last Generation protest movement on the exit of Autobahn 95 in the direction of Fürstenried.

The aim of the road blockade: Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) should not expand the fossil infrastructure any further.

The waiting motorists met with little understanding.

Because the most active paralyzed the traffic towards the city center on the exit for around two hours.

The driver of a black Mercedes didn't want to wait that long: he pushed his limousine halfway past other cars on the grass verge.

"He slowly got closer and closer in the car until I felt the pressure of his tire on my knee," says Rückert.

Then the man with the gray beard got out.

He pulled out a baton, threatened Rückert with it and dragged him off the street by his safety vest.

"I was in shock," says Rückert.

The driver later let go of him and drove on.

When the police later approached with several patrols, Rückert and another activist stuck to the road.

The officials had to use a special agent to remove them from the asphalt.

Nobody got hurt.

Activists charged with road blockade - "absolutely unacceptable"

The police have not yet received any information about the man with the baton, a spokesman said.

The activists received a complaint.

At the request of our newspaper, Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) describes the protest as “absolutely unacceptable.” However, he warns motorists against resorting to “self-help”.

"That could also be punishable."

Already in February, activists from "Last Generation" had blocked an airport access in Munich.

Further blockades in Munich and Bavaria have been announced for the coming Mondays.
