The traffic light parties want to set up a program to take in Afghan refugees.
For at least 25 million euros, 20,000 Afghans who are particularly at risk are to receive visas, humanitarian aid and admission to Germany.
The budget committee of the Bundestag released the funds for this late Thursday evening against the votes of the Union and AfD.
The left voted for it.
In the draft resolution, which SPIEGEL has seen, the Ampel budget holders call on the federal government to submit a report on the implementation of a "federal admission program in Afghanistan" by August 31.
Such a program is not listed in the government draft for the federal budget, although the coalition agreement explicitly provides for one.
It is aimed at people who are in danger after the Taliban take power, such as journalists or teachers.
The householders are now increasing the pressure on Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) to implement the project soon.
The Federal Ministry of the Interior had recently told parliamentarians that a maximum of 5,000 Afghan refugees could be brought to Germany each year as part of an admissions program, and that this number is expected to be "operationally feasible."
The budget committee also decided to give the Federal Foreign Office eight million euros for the digitization of visa applications this year in order to be able to react to the backlog of applications.
The Greens budget politician Jamila Schäfer welcomed the decisions: "I am very pleased that with this decision we are enabling the federal government to implement the admission quota for Afghanistan quickly." Even after the troop withdrawal, Germany bears a great deal of responsibility for the people in Afghanistan, said Schäfer the MIRROR.
