The BRICS foreign ministers affirmed their rejection of the arms race and the militarization of outer space.
According to TASS, the foreign ministers of the BRICS countries called in a joint statement after their meeting today via "video conference" to strengthen arms control mechanisms and the international non-proliferation regime, expressing at the same time their support for starting the process of expanding the association.
In their statement, the BRICS foreign ministers also expressed their concern about the humanitarian situation in Ukraine.
The BRICS is an association of countries with the fastest economic growth in the world and includes Russia, China, Brazil, India and South Africa.
The first summit between the heads of the four founding countries was held before the accession of South Africa in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg in 2009 and included the announcement of the establishment of a multipolar world order.
