The people in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia have to be prepared for severe thunderstorms in the next two days, and even extreme storms on Friday.
According to the German weather service, it will be most violent in the north of Saxony-Anhalt in the Altmark.
"The risk of severe thunderstorms, strong gusts of wind and hail is greatest there from Friday afternoon," said meteorologist Jens Oehmichen on request.
Leipzig – Flooded streets, flooded cellars, falling branches and suddenly rising streams must be expected.
"With rainfall of 50 liters per square meter, small bodies of water can quickly turn into torrents," emphasized the weather expert.
The other areas in the three countries would also have to adapt to this weather situation, but an exact forecast is not yet possible.
“Anyone who sees black clouds gathering should quickly go into the house or apartment.
The storm can come up very quickly,” emphasized Oehmichen.
In any case, people should keep up to date via radio and warning apps.
On Saturday morning the weather situation will have calmed down again.
