The popular neighborhoods of Paris have for years been confronted with the presence of drug addicts in their streets.
But before long, the chic districts of the capital could take their share.
Paris health assistant Anne Souyris has announced that a care center for drug addicts, including crack users, will soon open in the 16th arrondissement.
With 35 beds, this structure will be housed in the former Chardon-Lagache hospital.

This news immediately caused an outcry.
Collecting in a few hours several hundred signatures, a petition is already circulating to oppose this establishment near schools and in particular the Jean-Baptiste-Say high school.
Francis Szpiner, the mayor of the 16th, also stepped up to the plate with the intention of blocking the way to the project.
“We don't save people who are
addicted to crack
in urban areas.
We have to cut them off from the drug world
,” he says.
The population fears to see a quiet and spared district...
