The president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, reacted to the possibility of being excluded, along with the presidents of Cuba and Venezuela, from the IX Summit of the Americas, which will take place from June 6 to 10 in Los Angels.

During a ceremony to commemorate the 127th anniversary of Augusto Sandino's birth this Thursday, Ortega said: "We are not interested in being at that summit."

In addition, in his speech, he added that "going to that summit is going to fill up, we already know what."

And he concluded that "that summit does not exalt anyone... that summit dirty, muddy."

In the act, accompanied by his wife and vice president, Rosario Murillo, Ortega stressed that Latin American countries have an instrument to establish dialogues, in his opinion, non-exclusive and without preconditions.

"We Latin Americans have to defend ourselves so that they respect us, not forgetting that we have CELAC (Community of American and Caribbean States), that we have a powerful instrument to tell the European Union, the United States and Canada that we meet."

According to Ortega, "the show that the Yankee rulers are giving with this famous summit is a shame."

For his part, the Foreign Minister of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard, reported in a video on his Twitter account this Wednesday that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador spoke with President Joe Biden's adviser for the Summit of the Americas, Christopher Dood, the inclusion from Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua at the meeting.

But Ebrard explained that there are still no agreements.

AMLO and the Summit of the Americas: nothing can be solved from the outside

On May 3, López Obrador said that "if everyone is not invited, a representation of the Mexican government will go, but I would not go."

The argument that the United States makes for the exclusion of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua is that all three countries have undemocratic governments.
