A scuffle has legal consequences for the former AfD politician Dubravko Mandic: The Freiburg Regional Court has sentenced him to seven months' imprisonment for bodily harm.
According to the court, Mandic insulted a man three years ago and injured him with animal repellant spray.
The victim accidentally got into a scuffle between Mandic and two young men, who Mandic believed wanted to destroy AfD election posters.
The lawyer was also sentenced by the court to donate 3,000 euros to the Freiburg children's cancer clinic.
Mandic left the Freiburg municipal council last week.
He had previously belonged to the body as a non-party member.
He announced his departure from the AfD last year.
At the beginning of January 2020, Mandic caused outrage when he threatened the employees of Südwestrundfunk (SWR) at a rally in Baden-Baden that they would be “driven out of their editorial offices”.
It was "just the beginning of the storm," he called into a microphone (read more here).
The reason for the protest demonstration was the "environmental pig" satire by WDR.
Mandic then apologizes to the broadcaster.
