The Erdinger CSU wants to upgrade the space on the north side of the beautiful tower.
With the Greens on the city council, she has now applied for a work of art or a fountain there.
Erding – How is the culture hit by the pandemic doing?
There was information about this at the political morning shopping of the Erdinger CSU.
Culture consultant Ludwig Kirmair also reported on a new advance in the area of district art.
The CSU can imagine an artistic revitalization for the square at the beautiful tower facing the mill race.
There, after the dragon fountain “crumbled”, the work of art acquired by Mayor Max Gotz is now badly weathered.
It doesn't stand anymore.
Therefore, the CSU - together with the Greens - applied for a new work of art or a fountain to be erected there by 2028 at the latest for the 800th anniversary of the elevation to the city.
It could upgrade and beautify the square in terms of urban planning, according to the application to the city council.
CSU and Greens propose an artist competition.
According to Kirmair, the town hall in Erding experienced a massive slump in occupancy figures.
While there were 244 events in the Great Hall in 2019, the number dropped to 137 in 2021: "The deficit is therefore enormous." The Stadthalle is not about profit and the time was used for necessary renovation work.
"But our annual subsidy of 650,000 euros decided by the city council in 2012 is probably not enough in the long run," says Kirmair.
The reserves were used up, the costs for the artists went up.
Another problem is the migration of a large part of the staff to other industries.
But things are looking up.
Recently there was a full hall at the spring concert of the city band.
Cultural advisor Ludwig Kirmair (r.) made a plea for culture.

Kirmair also reported that an extension is planned for the Franz Xaver Stahl Museum that could serve as the city's art and meeting place.
Kirmair gave a positive prognosis for the city library, but the Frauenkircherl or the Erding Museum would also be pleased to see stable visitor numbers again.
The city of Erding has a lot to offer culturally, maybe even a bit too much: "At some events there is definitely still room for improvement in terms of visitors." Kirmair's conclusion: "The culture is recovering.
Of course there are financial deficits, but it has always been a subsidy operation.”
CSU parliamentary group leader Burkhard Köppen spoke briefly about the cooperation in the city council.
After the local elections in 2020, there were suddenly completely different majorities in the city council: "But we didn't play the offended liverwurst, we concentrated on the factual work." In the meantime, an action front has formed that is open to meaningful cooperation.

The nursing sector in particular should also benefit from this.
The burden there has increased significantly, especially in the past two years: “More nursing positions are to be created in our clinic.
The realization that you need it for better care has finally arrived," explained Köppen, a specialist who was the former director of care at the Munich Heart Center.
The biggest problem, however, is the lack of staff: "On the one hand, this is due to the lack of recognition of the profession and, on the other hand, of course, to the payment."
That should change, and I would be happy if there was also support for this at district level.”
