The district of Dachau has a new district fire councilor: Georg Reischl from Vierkirchen.

In the election, he got 59 out of 60 possible votes.

Predecessor as Dachau District Fire Council failed miserably at first attempt

Ried - "Hopefully it won't be as exciting as last time!" With these words District Administrator Stefan Löwl opened the election for the District Fire Council (KBR) on Wednesday evening in the hall of the Doll inn in Ried.

Löwl was probably still painfully aware of the first attempt on April 1 at the same place, in which the incumbent candidate Franz Bründler, who had been proposed by the district administrator, failed miserably.

42 out of 60 eligible commanders did not want to go further with him.

Löwl's hopes were fulfilled.

And how.

The votes of 59 of the 60 commanders present meant a first class result for the new aspirant Georg Reischl;

one vote was invalid.

The 56-year-old from Vierkirchner will take office from mid-July and will be the first firefighter in the Dachau region for the next six years.

"What do I want to promise you: Whoever votes for me will get me," said Reischl confidently at his presentation shortly before the election.

Well, the voluntary service providers in the 67 district fire brigades get an extremely experienced firefighter.

Reischl has been an active firefighter for over 40 years.

He was deputy commander of the FFW Vierkirchen for twelve years and its commander for six years.

For five years he was responsible for training and special tasks as district fire chief, and for 13 years he has been responsible for the eastern district as district fire inspector.

Georg Reischl was very well received

"The position of district fire chief wasn't necessarily the big goal in my life planning," admitted Reischl.

"In my opinion, there are definitely talents in the fire brigades and in the district fire inspection department" who are also suitable for the job.

Why did he still run for office?

"I received very, very strong encouragement from different sides - from the fire brigades, the mayors and also from the ranks of the district office," says Reischl.

After that he spoke to his family and his employer and then decided to run for office.

The new top firefighter works full-time as an engineer at the Bundesbank.

In the future, he will enter a “part-time work model” there, as he said.

In addition, he will also be employed part-time at the district office, but released for his duties as district fire officer.

His predecessor Bründler, who now works in the disaster control department in the district office, was accused of being too often offended in the human area by the fire brigades.

In Reischl's speech it was clear that he wanted to avoid exactly that.

Although there will also be "passionate discussions" with him, he then said sentences like: "I will listen to all parties, and then we will go down a path that everyone can be satisfied with."

So what can the fire departments expect from Georg Reischl?

“I see myself out there on site.

I love that, I think those are my strengths," he said, and: "I'm coming out to meet you, not to patronize you." The bottom line: Whoever chose Georg Reischl will get Georg Reischl.
