The King of Jordan has publicly revealed a royal dispute with his half-brother and made official the former Crown Prince's house arrest.
The king called him "unstable" in a very scathing letter published today (Thursday), according to a report by the AP news agency.
King Abdullah II said he had approved measures to keep Prince Hamza in his palace and restrict his communication and movement, due to his claim "his unstable behavior and unpredictable aspirations".
"We will provide Hamza with everything it needs to live a comfortable life, but not the space it used to insult the nation, its institutions and its family, as well as undermine Jordan's stability," the letter said.

The declaration is the final chapter in an ongoing royal conflict in which Hamza was placed under a kind of detention.
Abdullah and Hamza are the sons of King Hussein, who ruled Jordan almost half a century before his death in 1999.
Abdullah appointed Hamza the crown prince to inherit the throne, but deprived him of the title in 2004.
The king ordered a house arrest for Hamza in April for conspiracy, he claimed, to undermine the kingdom's stability.
In March Hamza apologized to the king, according to a letter published by the palace, and said he hoped "we can turn the page in this chapter of our country and of our family history."
In a letter published today, King Abdullah attacks his half-brother, saying that "he will never allow a situation where our country will be held hostage to the folly of one who has done nothing to serve his country."
