1. The Rush to the West
According to UN and Unicef figures, 5.5 million Ukrainians - including 2.5 million children - have fled their country since the start of the conflict on 24 February.
They first left for neighboring countries (Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova) before reaching the rest of the continent.
In terms of numbers, Poland (the easiest to access from Lviv) hosts 1.9 million, but 3 million refugees have passed through its territory.
In Romania and Moldova (20,000 daily entries), the European agency Frontex counts 1.5 million people.

Other nations impacted by this exodus: Hungary (580,000), Slovakia (380,000), the Czech Republic (260,000) and Austria (260,000).
These statistics should be considered with caution, because the situation is changing every day and does not always take into account returns to Ukraine (800,000 as of May 5).
