106 million euros: That's how much there is to win at the Eurojackpot tonight.

A novelty!

We explain how you can play along.

That has never happened in Germany!

For the first time, a three-digit million amount is being played out in a lottery.

Around 106 million euros can be won in prize class 1 in the Eurojackpot on Friday evening.

For a hit you need 5 correct numbers out of 50 plus 2 out of 12 Euronumbers (see box below).

The rush at the acceptance points is correspondingly large.

Yes, lottery fever has broken out in Munich!

"It's a lot busier, we work like an assembly line," says Horst Galiga (72).

He is employed at the Lottery Aubele acceptance point at Marienplatz.

There are many regular customers, but walk-in customers are also currently finding their way into the store.

90 million euros was the highest profit so far

The most popular is, of course, the Eurojackpot.

Galiga estimates that nine out of ten customers take part in the lottery.

The audience is quite mixed.

Munich is hot for the mega-money!

Incidentally, the highest profit in Bavaria so far was 90 million euros.

On May 1, 2020, a 25-year-old from Upper Franconia won the maximum amount at the time.

He had staked 16.25 euros for his game and handed it in shortly before the drawing.

Here's how to play along

There's 106 million euros up for grabs in the Eurojackpot today.

Record!

Appropriately, the current jackpot phase is the 100th since the lottery started in March 2012. In the previous 99 jackpot phases there were a total of 120 players to whom the main prize was distributed.

And how do you cream off the million jackpot?

In the Eurojackpot, numbers must be ticked in two betting fields: in the first five out of 50 numbers, in the second two out of twelve numbers.

The numbers in the second field are called euro numbers.

For a hit in prize class 1, five out of 50 numbers and two correct euro numbers are required.

The 106 million euros are only available for this prize category.

The chance of winning first place is 1 in 140 million.   

The maximum win in the Eurojackpot was only increased from 90 to 120 million euros at the end of March.

Hence the novelty.

Many a lottery shop in the city was not prepared for this either.

Galiga had to improvise for the sign in the shop window.

Because three digits actually have no place in the winning line here.

On Friday evening all eyes will be on Helsinki.

The drawing of the lottery numbers takes place here between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.

18 European countries are taking part.

Participation in the game is possible in Bavaria until Friday evening at 7 p.m. in around 3,500 Bavarian lottery acceptance points and on the Internet at www.lotto-bayern.de.

The ticket costs two euros per field, plus processing fees.
