The city council has made a decision: Nuremberg is applying to host the State Garden Show 2030. Mayor König sees a "green vision".
Nuremberg – On Wednesday, a majority in the city council of Nuremberg decided to submit an application for the state garden show in 2030.
The city is applying for the 50th anniversary of the Bavarian State Garden Show with an Urban Garden Show (UGS), according to the city portal.

Nuremberg has big plans for hosting the Urban Garden Show: the city moat will be upgraded with an extension, "the space along the city wall should be able to be experienced throughout and the citizens should have a better quality of stay in the long term," says the press release.
There are other projects throughout the city – seven squares and street spaces are to be redesigned for this purpose.
"With the Urban Garden Show, we want to make Nuremberg more climate-resilient and significantly improve the quality of life for all citizens in the city," says Lord Mayor Marcus König.

State Garden Show: A "green vision" for Nuremberg
“The Urban Garden Show is a green vision for Nuremberg.
It begins before 2030 and will continue to shine well beyond the anniversary year,” König continued.
There should also be a climate mile from the southern part of the city to the old town, because: "Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of the coming decades for our urban society as well.
Therefore, it becomes the thematic bracket for all measures, ”said König according to the press release of the city portal.
Overall, investments of around 46 to 51 million euros are expected.
Nuremberg has to submit the application by May 27 – an assessment will then take place in July, after which the organizer will be determined from around a dozen other applicants.
The UGS will take place from April to October 2030.
Visitors have to pay admission to the main areas of the State Horticultural Show – this money, in turn, is used to refinance the project.
