Hundreds of students took to the streets for their island high school.
In vain - after a long argument, the school is finally threatened with closure.
Remagen - According to the neighboring city of Remagen and the parents' council, all rescue attempts for the almost 170-year-old private school on the Rhine island of Nonnenwerth have failed.
This was announced by a spokeswoman for the parents' council on Thursday.
The traditional Rhineland-Palatinate high school on the state border with North Rhine-Westphalia with students from both federal states will most likely be closed in July.
Hundreds of girls and boys then have to change schools.
Many students had repeatedly demonstrated for the preservation of their high school.
