It has never been so hot at night in spring as between Wednesday and Thursday in 150 years of readings in the capital.

A heat record has been broken in Paris.

Due to the heat wave that has affected France in recent days, the capital has recorded a temperature never seen at night so early in the year.

Between Wednesday and this Thursday, the night was tropical, that is to say that the thermometer did not drop below 20°C.

This situation had never occurred before May 25, the previous record dating from 1953. The measurement is all the more remarkable as the official meteorological station in Paris, located in Parc Montsouris and installed in 1872, is one of the oldest .

This is therefore a situation never observed in 150 years of surveys.

During the night, it was even warmer in the heart of the city.

As the Montsouris station is in a park, it is cooler there than in the middle of the buildings.

A station located in the city did not see the temperature drop below 22.9° all night.

Temperatures will soar again

In addition, another record should also fall at the end of the day.

The national thermal indicator could also have broken a record.

This indicator is an average of 30 weather stations representative of the country.

Its low point was 16.5°C this morning.

The previous record in May dates from 2017 with 16.06°C on May 29.

🌡️ The national thermal indicator of mini T°C could also have broken a record.

At 7 a.m. UT (9 a.m. local), it was estimated at 16.5°C, which constitutes a potential monthly record since 1947, the previous record being 16.06°C on 05/29/2017.

These records are part of a period of warm weather over time.

The national thermal indicator exceeded Wednesday for the 38th day in a row the average temperature of the season.

The previous record also dated from 2017, from April 4 to May 10.

This new record of 38 days should continue to be beaten and reach 41 days given "the temperatures expected at least until Saturday", specifies Météo France.

After a small drop in temperatures this Thursday and Friday, mainly in the North, the thermometer is rising again after the passage of thunderstorms.

This rise will be more pronounced in the South than in the North.

Some models envisage that the thermometer displays values above 35°C, or even locally between 36°C and 39°C.

The end of the weekend and the beginning of the week will be marked by rain and a drop in temperature.
