The Father Stetten Warriors and Soldiers Association mourns the loss of its long-standing chairman Wilhelm Reitsberger (64), who died unexpectedly on May 16.
The club has now announced this.
Vaterstetten
- Born in Vaterstetten, he joined the club in 1978 after completing his basic military service with the mountain troops in Mittenwald.
From 1988 to 1997 he acted as 2nd chairman and in 1998 he was elected 1st chairman.
In this function he was re-elected several times in recognition of his successful and prudent work.
Most recently on April 24 of this year.
The club awarded him a silver and gold badge of honor for his services.
He always campaigned for peace and international understanding
For Wilhelm Reitsberger, it had become his life's work to commemorate the victims of both world wars, to stand up for the preservation of peace and to work for international understanding.
This endeavor found special expression in the commemorative services and commemorations on the day of national mourning at the war memorial.
Reitsberger made another important contribution by organizing the collection for the War Graves Commission.

Maintaining camaraderie with the warriors' and soldiers' associations in the district was important to him.
He particularly liked to maintain the connections to the clubs where the Vaterstetten club took over the sponsorship, such as the soldiers and comradeship association Poing-Angelbrechting and the warriors and soldiers comradeship Feldkirchen-Weißenfeld.
He also attached great importance to keeping in touch with older and sick club mates through personal visits.
The life of the club found a remarkable support through excursions and festivals as well as at Christmas parties.
In the obituary, the second chairman, Wolfgang Scheuren, emphasized that the Vaterstetten Warriors' and Soldiers' Association would always honor the memory of its deceased first board member.

The burial will take place on Wednesday, May 25: Service at 9.30 a.m. in the parish church “Zum Edelen Blut Christi”, Vaterstetten.
Then a funeral march with the flag delegations to the community cemetery in Vaterstetten.
