The Mammendorf outdoor pool is showing its age.
Without a renovation, which will cost many millions of euros, the amusement park is even threatened with closure.
Getting everything back into shape will take years.
Mammendorf – The total sum for all necessary renovation and conversion measures is over 13 million euros, although of course this can only be a rough estimate.
In the district office, which operates the system, the conversion of the electrical distribution is particularly urgent.
The system components are very old, spare parts are difficult to obtain or no longer available at all, according to a paper from the district administration at the meeting of the district committee.
"Questioned electrical companies have repeatedly refused to lend a hand to the existing system," it says literally.
The electrical connection is now even illegal (four instead of five wires).

The kiosk is also working at its limit, since many more devices are now connected than originally planned.
The performance is three times higher than originally planned.
The supply cable heats up in maximum operation.
Another problem: The photovoltaic system can only feed its electricity into the sanitary area of the youth campground because the connection to the outdoor pool is not possible due to a lack of capacity.
In the case of an outdoor pool, however, the benefits of the system would be much greater.
Crowd three times as big as planned
In addition, the pool as a whole is much more frequented than initially thought in 1985.
At that time, a top performance of 1500 guests was expected.
Today there are 4,000. The district administration warns that if the electrical system fails, the outdoor pool could be closed immediately.
The conversion of the electrical rooms as such is also necessary.
Estimated cost: 900,000 euros.
(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.)
And so it goes on: The toilets at the kiosk are 30 years old and in need of renovation.
There has been water damage several times.
Estimated cost: 400,000 euros.
Furthermore, the pools have to be renewed (stainless steel instead of tiles) as well as the water technology, which will cost around 850,000 euros.
The underground water slide has also exceeded its service life.
It should be replaced in the medium term.
1.7 million euros must be budgeted for this alone.
Should one decide to build a floating slide instead of the buried one, the costs would increase significantly.

Another point is the conversion of the entrance, checkout and office area.
The turnstile at the entrance shows signs of failure, showers are totally outdated and partly defective.
Cost: 950,000 euros.
The refurbishment of the toilet facility at the youth campground should be a little cheaper (700,000 euros).
This means the containers on the eastern edge of the complex and not the newly built little house on the other side of the square, which has even been awarded an architecture prize.
order of importance
The sequence of measures reported here also corresponds to the importance prioritization made by the district administration.
In the years 2023 and 2024, the electrical renovation is to be planned first.
The other repairs are to follow little by little.
One thing became clear: Administration and politics want to try to get state subsidies.
