The Hong Kong Polytechnic University plans to build a 3-storey green platform at the Hung Hom Tunnel Toll Plaza, covering an area of 30,000 square meters, including extending from the toll plaza to the waterfront to connect to the multi-level observation deck of Victoria Harbour. The platform will be equipped with green space, exhibitions and community facilities for public use, and can also be connected to multiple exits such as MTR Hung Hom Station, Tsim Sha Tsui East Promenade, Hong Kong Coliseum, ICON and PolyU main campus.

The PolyU team introduced the relevant plans to the Kowloon City District Council today (19th). Several district councillors pointed out that although they agreed with the concept, they were worried that the project would take 8 years and would have an impact on traffic and people flow. They hoped to get more details. After the information is obtained, a vote will be made at other meetings.

The PolyU team attended the meeting of the Kowloon City District Council's Culture, Leisure and District Facilities Management Committee today (19th), together with engineering consultants and representatives of the architect firm.

They said that they plan to build a green platform covering an area of about 30,000 square meters on the CHT toll plaza, with a total of about 24,300 square meters of outdoor green space on the platform and middle floors, consisting of seven theme parks.

Among them, it is proposed to add multi-purpose exhibition space, multi-level public viewing platform, retail and dining space, amphitheater, trampoline park, etc., and two indoor all-weather bus waiting rooms on the ground to improve the waiting experience of passengers.

In addition, the proposed greening platform will be equipped with an air purification system to purify the air pollutants generated by the traffic of the Cross-Harbour Tunnel.

The CHT toll plaza is a transportation hub, and some district councillors are worried that if the project takes 8 years, the traffic flow and the flow of people will be greatly affected.

A number of district councillors agreed with the concept of the plan, but also pointed out that there were a number of concerns.

Among them, Yang Zhenyu pointed out that the entire planned project will take 8 years to carry out, and the CHT toll plaza is a transportation hub. He is worried that the traffic flow and the flow of people will have a great impact at that time, and believes that the incident needs to be discussed in the Transportation and Transportation Committee.

Ho Hsien-ming pointed out that the team needs to ensure that the project has sufficient funds. At the same time, he believes that the plan involves many aspects and suggests that it should be discussed at the district council meeting.

Lin Decheng said that the team needs to announce more details, including what facilities are available for the public to use, and he is worried that the tunnel toll will increase after the completion of the plan.
