There are some very simple tricks to reduce the electricity bill at the end of the year.

Who knows them all?

Unterhaching

– In which area of a private household is the most electricity consumed?

The correct answer: Information technology such as computers and mobile phones as well as television.

In fact, almost 30 percent of consumption goes on it.

Did you know?

Most visitors to the energy fair in Unterhaching stumbled across the question on Tuesday.

They improved their knowledge at information stands in the Hachinga Hall.

The motto: "Saving energy together."

Better off completely than stand by

Electricity can be saved, for example, if TV sets are switched off completely instead of switching to stand-by mode, said the consultants.

In this way, 110 kilowatt hours could be saved per year, equivalent to 35 euros.

"Everyone can save electricity," said Philipp Dürr, the municipality's climate protection officer.

He sees an increasing interest in saving energy.

The high prices for electricity and gas would fuel enthusiasm for climate protection, he says.

"It's important that we jump on the bandwagon now."

On the way to climate neutrality

Unterhaching is already well on the way towards climate neutrality, at least when compared to districts.

This is shown by a look at the district's greenhouse gas report from 2016. According to this, the residents of Unterhaching emitted 1.4 tons of greenhouse gas, the average in the district was 1.8 tons.

The proportion of renewable district heating was also above average in Unterhaching in 2016: at almost 32 percent.

So far, it has only hacked when installing photovoltaic systems on roof areas;

of almost 3,500 buildings in Unterhaching in 2016, only 190 were equipped with photovoltaics.

That's below average.

There was information on the use of solar energy at the energy fair: A consultant, for example, explained that a solar module brings 600 watts.

He clamped it to his balcony, he could plug the consumers into the system.

Saving money can be so easy, he said.
