The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today the successful launch of its new satellite into Earth orbits.
The Russia Today website quoted the ministry as saying in a statement that the new satellite was launched this morning from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome on board a Soyuz 2.1 rocket and reached its specified space orbit, adding that the Titov Ground Center of the Russian Aerospace Forces began the process of monitoring and follow-up after the arrival of the moon to its orbit.
Russia is preparing for several space launches from the Plesetsk base this year, as the Roscosmos Corporation recently announced that it has sent a new heavy Angara missile to that base in preparation for its launch into space.
