The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the Chargé d'Affairs of the Slovenian Embassy in Moscow today and demanded that he reduce the number of his country's diplomatic mission in response to a similar measure.
"The charge d'affaires of the embassy expressed strong protest against the unjustified attempts of the Slovenian authorities to blame Russia and to provide the Slovenian side with military support to the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv," a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The statement clarified that based on the principle of reciprocity to steps previously taken by the Ljubljana government to reduce the number of Russian diplomatic mission personnel and complicate its working conditions, Russia handed the Chargé d'Affairs a memorandum asking his country to reduce the number of diplomatic staff members of its embassy in Moscow by four people within 10 days.
Today, the Russian Foreign Ministry expelled five members of the Portuguese diplomatic mission in Moscow, while yesterday it expelled 34 French diplomats, 24 Italian diplomats and 27 Spanish diplomats, in response to similar measures taken by these countries against Russian diplomats.
