Russian Defense: Kyiv is preparing to carry out provocations using (roaming mortars)

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Kyiv authorities are preparing to carry out provocations using "roaming mortars" in the Sumy region, eastern Ukraine, with the aim of prompting Russian forces to retaliate by firing on residential buildings.

The Russia Today website quoted the head of the Russian National Defense Monitoring Center, Mikhail Mezintsev, as saying that “according to the reliable operational information available in the Sumy region, the Kyiv regime is preparing another complex provocation using the so-called roving mortars,” noting that “the fighters of the national battalions are planning to shoot into the territory.” The Russian border from the private residential areas in order to invoke retaliatory shooting at the apartment buildings in which the local residents are detained.”

The Russian official indicated that "the Kyiv authorities plan to use this despicable measure in the near future to accuse Russian soldiers of allegedly indiscriminate strikes against civilians, followed by extensive coverage in Ukrainian and Western media as well as Internet sites."

Mizintsev drew attention to the fact that, unlike the armed formations of Ukraine, the Russian armed forces strictly observe all the rules of international humanitarian law, treat the local population exclusively humanely and do not strike civilian targets.

"Criminal acts and provocations by the Kyiv regime once again demonstrate Kiev's inhumane attitude towards the fate of its citizens and its complete disregard for the rules and principles of international humanitarian law," he added.
