Russia is apparently arming itself militarily in the Ukraine war.

The notorious tank "Terminator" is to be used.

That would be like a premiere.

Sievjerodonetsk - It's actually only considered a propaganda tank for the Russian army, but now it's apparently supposed to be used in the Ukraine war: the infamous "Terminator" colossus.

Photos are circulating on social media showing a tank in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine.

Military experts confirm that this is the combat support vehicle "BMPT - Terminator".

Ukraine war: Putin sends the "Terminator"

The "Terminator" is considered a "super tank" in Russia.

Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin regularly parades him at military parades.

So also on May 9th.

So far, the tank has not officially been used.

There are unconfirmed reports that Russian troops deployed him in Syria, but actually "Terminator" has so far only attracted attention as an object of public relations.

Russia likes to point out how much damage the tank can do.

47 tons, 1000 hp, seven meters long and anything but a conventional combat vehicle.

The colossus acts as a support vehicle and, like the "Terminator" in the film, is intended to protect the actual tanks and weapon systems from the outside.

He should also be able to attack up to five targets at the same time.

Russia reportedly possesses a total of 20 to 30 of these armored support vehicles.

One of them is said to belong to the 90th Division, according to Rob Lee of the Foreign Policy Research Institute.

Among other places, it is deployed in Sievjerodonetsk in eastern Ukraine, in the Luhansk region.

Ukraine war: How strong is the "Terminator"?

- Focus on east of the country

However, military experts doubt that the "Terminator" can help Russia in the Ukraine war.

Although it could replace around 100 soldiers under certain circumstances, it also had to function properly.

Whether that is the case seems unclear.

The fact that the Terminator is now being sent to eastern Ukraine could also be due to the military situation in the escalating Ukraine conflict.

Due to the sanctions imposed on Russia, tank supplies are faltering.

Russia has progressively shifted its military strategy to eastern Ukraine, taking control of some areas such as the important port city of Mariupol.

Almost 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers surrendered at the Asovstal Steelworks in Mariupol.

In other parts of eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian troops have slowed Russian advances, but Moscow troops are keeping the pressure up.

"We are preparing for major offensives in Sieverodonetsk and on the Lysychansk-Bakhmut road," the governor of the Luhansk region said at the weekend.

The “Terminator” also seems to be there.
