The Land Reclamation Projects and Development of Fruitful Afforestation Branch in As-Suwayda Governorate today started implementing the reclamation plan for the current season, set at about two thousand dunams.
The director of the branch, Engineer Shawqi Ashti, explained to SANA reporter that the plan was initiated within the lands of the town of Al-Raha in order to invest it by planting fruit trees, and that work would be done in the next few days within the village of Al-Afina to prepare lands for planting field crops.
He pointed out that the plan will later include new sites in a number of villages and towns in the governorate, which will be determined according to the available capabilities of mechanisms and fuel, and based on the priorities set, pointing to the importance of reclaiming new areas of land to improve the field of investment in the agricultural sector and increase production.
The Land Reclamation and Development of Fruitful Afforestation Projects branch in As-Suwayda reclaimed and prepared about 1,569 dunums of land last year in order to invest it in the cultivation of field crops and fruit trees.
