The Likud faction announced tonight (Thursday) that it voted unanimously against the law "Dimensions for studies" in its current wording.
According to the announcement, Likud members have signed a wording according to which the scholarships will be increased to 100% for discharged fighters, while now the law increases them by less.
For this reason, the Likud argued, they would not vote for the law in its original wording and the law would fall.
The Likud faction's announcement comes amid internal pressure to support the "Dimensions for Studies" law and public calls by some MKs to vote in favor of the law, contrary to Netanyahu's position and the decision of party leaders in the right-wing bloc to oppose all government legislation. MKs Yoav Galant Keren Barak, Ofir Akunis and Patin Mula have spoken publicly in support of the law in recent days.

It was reported that Netanyahu today personally called some Knesset members who issued calls for support for the Dimensions for Education Law yesterday and asked them to vote in favor of the proposal that the Likud oppose the law in its current wording and demand an increase in scholarships to 100 percent for discharged soldiers.
