Overrun by Border Police:

The Central District Attorney's Office (Criminal) today (Thursday) filed an indictment in the Central District Court against Abdullah al-Khadur (28) from Lod who stole a car from his city, broke a police checkpoint and ran over a severely injured border police officer.

Al-Khadur was charged with aggravated assault, abandonment, car theft and more.

This is after while under the influence of drugs and without a driver's license, he drove a stolen vehicle and ran over a police officer.

According to the indictment, filed by attorney Tali Keret, the defendant, while under the influence of heroin, broke into a vehicle on the streets of Lod, drove on the city streets and even got out of it.

At one point, he made a U-turn and returned in the direction of a power junction.

Simultaneously with the theft of the vehicle, the owners of the vehicle reported it to the police.

Following this, a Border Police force arrived at a power junction and set up a checkpoint at the site in order to capture the defendant. When the defendant noticed the Border Police force and the checkpoint, he deviated from his travel route and began to accelerate.

At this point, police spotted the vehicle and deployed a network of spikes on the road.

In order to avoid the spikes and escape from the police, the defendant veered sharply to the left, boarded the vehicle with no traffic and ran over a police officer who was at the scene.

The defendant continued to drive fast as the officer was dragged under his vehicle for about 20 meters.

At one point the policeman remains blood-soaked on the road while the accused continues his dangerous driving.

As a result of his actions, the policeman was seriously injured in his entire body.

He was rushed to the hospital and as of this date he is still anesthetized and respirated.

At one point the defendant abandoned the vehicle while driving, and the vehicle, without a driver, continued to move in the opposite direction on the road until it slid to the curb and collided with a light pole.

It was only after a few hours that the accused was located and arrested by the police forces despite his violent attempts to prevent the police from arresting and questioning him.

Also the next day, when he was released from custody in order to conduct a search of his home, the defendant rioted cursing, biting and threatening the police officers who were doing their job.

Simultaneously with the indictment, a request for detention was also filed against the defendant until the end of the legal proceedings against him, where Adv. Keret noted that:

"All so that he can complete his criminal plan and escape from the police."

The indictment attributes to the defendant aggravated intent offenses, abandonment after injury, intentionally endangering the lives of people in a transportation lane, assaulting a police officer, threats, vehicle theft, driving without a driver’s license and driving while intoxicated.
