A Boeing 747 makes several laps over northern Hesse and drains fuel.
Finally, the plane flies back to Frankfurt Airport.
Neuental – According to a well-known air traffic radar portal, flight GTI8091 was supposed to go from Frankfurt am Main to Chicago on Thursday afternoon (May 19).
If you look at the flight recording, you can see that the Atlas Air Boeing 747-47U(F) machine left its actual flight route shortly after take-off and turned from the northwest to the northeast, as reported by hna.de.
The machine made a loop over the Wetterau and initially flew north at an altitude of only 3,300 meters.
Several laps were shot over the Schwalm-Eder district, the adjacent districts of Hersfeld, Rotenburg and Marburg Biedenkopf.
It was already visible to the naked eye that the heavy machine was releasing fuel.
Northern Hesse: Boeing drains fuel and flies back to Frankfurt
After two and a half laps, Atlas Air left the airspace over northern Hesse for Frankfurt am Main, where it landed safely again at 3 p.m.
The reason for the unusual maneuver is still unclear.
Air traffic control in Langen did not have any information immediately after landing.
