The bank branches are dying.
The service counter of the Volksbank in Jesenwang will close on June 1st.
Jesenwang – According to Robert Fedinger from the board of directors of the bank, this is only partly a business decision.
Another reason is the lack of staff.
"The shortage of skilled workers does not pass us by," said Fedinger when asked by the daily newspaper.
As soon as employees leave, it becomes difficult to continue operating every small branch.
That is also the reason why customers were only informed in writing about two weeks before the closure.
When employees change jobs, this cannot always be planned.
The Volksbank had rented rooms on Staatsstrasse – together with the Sparkasse, which operated the counter there on Thursdays.
"That was a first step, because small offices are no longer profitable," says Fedinger.
The Volksbank counter was last manned by two employees on Mondays and Tuesdays.
(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.)
The possibility of making transfers there personally is no longer available.
"But that's hardly ever used anyway," says Fedinger, referring to online banking.
However, consultations could still be arranged in Jesenwang.
Either in the branch.
"Or our employee comes to the customer's home."
In addition, the customer was given the bank branch in Althegnenberg as an alternative in the cover letter - although Mammendorf, Fürstenfeldbruck or Grafrath, for example, are closer.
There is a simple reason for this: "One of the employees from Jesenwang works in Althegnenberg, so there is a well-known contact person there," says Robert Fedinger.
Of course you can also visit any other branch.
The ATM and the bank statement printer in Jesenwang will remain – at least until the end of the year.
Then the lease for the building on the state road expires.
It is not yet clear what will happen after that.
But Fedinger promises: "We're trying to find a solution for the cash supply in town." Again with the Sparkasse.
