Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhao Lijian has reiterated his country's strong opposition to the United States' support for the World Health Organization's invitation to Taiwan as an observer at the 75th session of the World Health Assembly, stressing the one-China principle in international relations.
At a press conference today, Zhao said: We firmly oppose the relevant statement issued by the US side on the WHO's invitation to Taiwan, as there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the participation of the Taiwan region in the activities of international organizations, including WHO, according to the one-China principle.
Earlier today, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Yang Jiechi confirmed that the United States has for a long time adopted a series of wrong words and actions that interfere in China's internal affairs and harm its interests, warning Washington against its continued use of the "Taiwan card."
