"Who gives the dear guy a nice 'last' home?": His owners didn't want him anymore.
Now dog grandpa Brauni is looking for a new family.
Update from May 17, 8:10 p.m .:
As the Amberg animal shelter reports, Brauni has now found a “great, new home”.
He moved on Tuesday.
The animal rights activists are happy that he can enjoy his last year there.
First report from May 13th:
Amberg – “Brauni no longer understands the world at the moment” – The Amberg animal shelter finds emotional words in a mediation call.
Because they no longer had time for him, the owners of the 13-year-old dachshund collie mix wanted to have their four-legged friend put to sleep.
“Sometimes we just don't have the words!” the animal rights activists get annoyed.
"At the age of 13 in the animal shelter, you can be sad." And that seems to be the dog grandpa too.

Animal shelter Amberg: dog grandpa "Brauni" does not like to stay at home alone
The little dog with the floppy ears looks sadly into the camera in the pictures of the animal shelter.
According to the animal rights activists, he is “still quite fit”, and he runs well outside.
"He knows a few basic commands and drives in the car without any problems." What Brauni doesn't like at all, however, is staying alone.
"One to two hours might be enough, then he reports his displeasure by howling loudly," writes the shelter.
Cyclists aren't really his thing either.
With regard to cats, the animal shelter writes: "Your own cats are ok, strange cats have to be hunted down." With other dogs, sympathy decides.

According to the animal shelter, the Dachshund-Collie-Mix still has some time ahead of it and therefore wishes for a "nice last home".
"Sprightly older people who have a lot of time for them would be ideal." Anyone interested in adopting the little dog can contact the animal shelter by e-mail: Hallo@tierheim-amberg.de.
There are more dogs waiting for a new home on the shelter's website.
