Criticism of Chancellor:

At first it seemed as if the waves between Ukrainian and German politics had calmed down again.

But now Ambassador Andriy Melnyk has struck the next blow in times of Vladimir Putin's Ukraine war and accused the government of Olaf Scholz (SPD) of delaying deliveries of heavy weapons.

"We have the impression that the Chancellor does not want to deliver," Melnyk told the editorial network Germany on Friday.

His guess: the government could play for time and possibly wait until a ceasefire is reached.

"Then the pressure from Germany is gone and then no more courageous decisions need to be made," Melnyk told the RND.

So far, neither Cheetah tanks, nor Leopard 1 or Marder have been delivered, the ambassador criticized.

The announced exchange of rings with T-72 tanks for the Ukraine from Slovenia has also not worked out so far.

A few weeks ago, the Bundestag agreed on a change of course in tank deliveries.

However, Melnyk's criticism was not only related to the arms deliveries.

He once again expressed his displeasure that Scholz has not traveled to Kyiv since the start of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

After the relief package 2022: SPD announces further help for citizens

One-off payments are not enough: parts of the 2022 relief package were only passed in the Bundestag on Thursday.

While the fuel discount and 9-euro ticket still have to go through the Federal Council, the SPD federal faction has announced further steps to stabilize the lower income groups.

"Primary distribution is important here, because one-off payments and lump sums are not enough for this," said Dagmar Schmidt, deputy SPD parliamentary group leader.

"The relief packages make our basic principle clear: We won't leave people alone," added the SPD politician in an interview with the German Press Agency about the 2022 relief package. War of Vladimir Putin important.

Among other things, she announced that further measures, such as strengthening collective bargaining coverage in Germany, would follow.
