Prince Albert of Monaco is said to have banned his wife Charlene from using her car for fear that his mother's fate could repeat itself.

Monaco – As soon as Princess Charlène (44) is back in public, rumors of a serious relationship crisis between her and Prince Albert (64) are piling up again.

The regent is said to have even taken away his wife's car to prevent her from traveling alone between the Grimaldis' country estate and the prince's palace.

The joy of the Monegasque was huge when Princess Charlène was finally able to attend an official appointment a few weeks ago.

After all, we had had to wait months to see her again.

But disillusionment followed.

Although the 44-year-old looks dazzling and much fitter than last November, her looks at her appearance at the Monaco E-Prix spoke volumes.

She seemed sad and downright absent next to her husband Albert.

A few days later she appeared a little happier at a rugby game, but the impression remained that the princess was a bit depressed.

Royal fans quickly speculated again whether Charlène and Albert's marriage might not be as intact as the regent has repeatedly claimed in recent months.

There was talk of a new dubious marriage contract worth millions as well as the fact that the native South African was excluded from planning an important family celebration.

According to current reports from the "milleunadonna" portal, Albert Charlène is said to have even taken away her car to prevent her from driving alone to the Grimaldis' country estate - Roc Agel on Mont Agel.

Charlene of Monaco: Albert is apparently afraid that history could repeat itself

After her return from Switzerland, Princess Charlène is said to have retired to Roc Agel in order to continue to enjoy peace and relaxation there.

A 20-minute drive separates the country seat from the princely palace - but this is quite a challenge, because the Grimaldi residence can only be reached via narrow serpentines.

Prince Albert's mother Gracia Patricia (52, † 1982) had an accident on exactly that route and died tragically.

Probably out of concern for his wife, Prince Albert is said to have taken action and taken away her Range Rover from Charlène.

The 44-year-old is now missing another piece of freedom, which she is said to have been longing for in the "golden palace cage" for years.
