Ten suspects were indicted after the dismantling of "
significant
" cannabis trafficking between the Spanish border and the Nantes region, the Rennes prosecutor's office announced on Friday May 20 in a press release.

Since May 2021, investigators have counted “
24 imports of narcotics
” for “
2.4 tonnes estimated in total
” as part of this traffic, according to Rennes prosecutor Philippe Astruc.
These “
grouped deliveries of cannabis resin
” were made from Algeciras (southern Spain) “
by means of trucks
”, according to the same source.
298.6 kilograms of cannabis
As part of a judicial investigation opened on May 6, 2021 by the Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction (Jirs) of Rennes, a semi-trailer was checked on the night of May 13 to 14, 2022 in the Landes on the A63 motorway, with several suitcases containing 298.6 kilos of cannabis and 1765 euros in cash.
The truck driver and another man traveling in an opener vehicle were arrested.
Ten other people were also arrested in the Cholet and Nantes conurbations.
One of the suspects tried to flee but the police intercepted him by shooting at the tires of his vehicle.

The investigating judge indicted ten suspects, eight of whom were remanded in custody and two under judicial control.
They are 8 men (seven French and one Moroccan) and 2 women of French nationality, aged between 22 and 33 years old.
