In order to take the pandemic into account, #wiesseerocks was started last summer as a small but fine concert series.

The concept has proven itself - and will be retained.

Bad Wiessee

- The idea was actually born out of the "Corona emergency".

In order to be able to offer music enjoyment at Tegernsee despite the pandemic, the premiere of the concert series

#wiesseerocks

took place last summer on a small scale and in the open air on the lake promenade.

"We wanted to do something good for the citizens and support culture," says Mayor Robert Kühn (SPD) about the motives at the time.

The concert series was a success and aroused desires.

Therefore, as the initiators made clear at a press conference on Thursday (May 19), the format will be retained this year.

Only 250 to 300 visitors: the concert series should be kept small

No more than 250 to 300 visitors, a closed-off area with seating and a trailer stage, onlookers all around and cuisine tailored to the respective motto: Mayor Kühn described what was created with

#wiesseerocks

as a “valuable and valuable” event .

And Peter Rie, event manager at Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT), was also pleased that the small format of the concert series was retained.

"It's good that the community is involved here and doesn't make a big event out of it," he said.

Sustainability is currently a top priority at Tegernsee

Away from the crowds of visitors towards sustainability: This is a trend that TTT says it is currently pursuing.

It starts with the limited number of visitors and ends with the food: caterer Peter Blümer, who is responsible for the catering, only wants to use porcelain plates and real cutlery for the concert series.

Caterer Blümer has built a new wooden hut on the lake promenade

Because the preparatory work for the construction of the new pergola is currently underway on the area on the lake promenade, Blümer has temporarily built a brand new wooden hut with a small beer garden next to the existing pavilion.

It not only serves to provide food for the concerts, but is open daily.

The work on the pergola is also forcing the community and TTT to reposition the trailer stage for the ten concert evenings.

Last year the stage was oriented towards Tegernsee, this year it is oriented towards the south - "with a wonderful view of the mountains", says Rie.

Da Oimara is a local hero at #wiesseerocks

In their own words, the organizers valued a variety of musical genres in the programme.

And that regional artists also get a chance.

Among them this year is the Tegernsee local hero Beni Hafner alias Oimara.

On August 26th he will rock the Wiesseer Seepromenade with his dialect songs.

He doesn't really want to play in his home country, said Hafner at the press conference.

After all, the valley is his “oasis of calm”.

"But I'm really in the mood for this little festival," said the songwriter, who grew up on the Hafner Alm.

Program scores with a variety of music styles

The concert series begins on Friday, June 3, with an Austropop evening: from 7 p.m., the band Olles Leiwand will set the mood.

A full program is then offered until September 9th - including flamenco jazz by the group Jamenco (June 17th), international rock music by D'Hanna'm (July 29th), country rock with the Oache Brothers (August 5th) and party music by the Cagey Strings (August 19).

It always starts at 7 p.m., half an hour earlier than last year.

The box office is open from 6 p.m. each day.

Otherwise, the tickets are now also available in advance from all tourist information offices on Lake Tegernsee and from Munich Ticket.

Rie describes the entrance fee as a mere "Obolus".

Tickets for all evenings are available for ten euros.

The concerts take place in all weathers - unless there is a threat of a storm.

“We have a lot of covered areas here,” says Rie.

And if necessary, you can even help the summer with radiant heaters or mulled wine.

All information about the program is available online at www.tegernsee.com/wiesseerocks.
