Business creations in France fell by 2.5% in April, after having increased by 1.7% in March, according to figures published Friday by INSEE, which underlines that this reduction has a "
stronger
" impact on micro-businesses .

85,597 companies were created last month, including 51,447 micro-enterprises, a decrease of 3.4% over one month for this category, specifies the National Institute of Statistics.
The total number of companies created over the past 12 months increased by 2.1% year-on-year, a rise "
less marked than in previous months, where it was mechanically driven by a + base effect + linked to the fall in creations during the spring 2020 confinement

A decline of 3% for all business categories combined
It is the creation of companies that is increasing the fastest, with a 13.0% increase over the last 12 months year-on-year and 7.5% over the last three months, compared to the same period of 2021. On the other hand, traditional sole proprietorship creations have “
significantly declined
” by 7.8% over the last 12 months, a trend which has accelerated over the last three months (-11.2%).
Similarly, the creation of micro-enterprises, almost stable over the past year on a year-on-year basis (-0.1%), "
declines sharply
over the past three months (-5.8%).
All categories combined over the last three months, the number of business creations fell by 3% compared to the same period in 2021. Last year, they had reached a historic record in France, approaching one million.

By sector in April, business creations fell the most in transport and warehousing (-13.7%), “ even
more strongly
” than the previous month (-3.8%).
The construction (-4.6%) and business support (-2.0%) sectors also fell "
significantly
", notes INSEE, as did accommodation and catering (-7.3% ).
Only business start-ups in the industry (+3.5%) and household services (+0.5%) sectors continued to increase in April.
