The French newspaper Les Echos expected that Russia will get record revenues estimated at 100 billion dollars from gas sales to European countries this year.
In its report entitled "Putin's Trap", the newspaper reported, quoting Citi Bank analysts, that the expected Russian income from gas sales will be double what it was last year.
The report indicated that despite the sanctions, loud statements and promises to impose a ban, 27 countries of the European Union transfer $ 200 million to the Russian "Gazprom" on a daily basis.
After Western countries imposed sanctions on Russia, which affected the reservation of part of Russia's international reserves, Moscow announced the conversion of gas-supplied payments for unfriendly countries into the ruble currency.
Under a Russian presidential decree, companies, including European ones, from unfriendly countries must open two accounts in Gazprom Bank, the first in euros and the second in the Russian ruble.
These companies will transfer the price of Russian gas in euros, while "Gazprom Bank" will transfer the euro money on the Moscow Stock Exchange into the Russian ruble and then send it to "Gazprom".
