Meretz chairman Nitzan Horowitz spoke this morning (Thursday) with MK Jida Rinawi Zoabi for the first time since the announcement of her retirement.
Horowitz's entourage said there was a "long and good" conversation.
On Sunday, Rinawi Zoabi is expected to arrive at the Foreign Ministry for a meeting with the deputy prime minister and to discuss with him later the procedure for her appointment to the consulate in Shanghai.
MK Jida Rinawi-Zoabi announced his retirement from the coalition yesterday, leaving the government with only 59 MKs and officially turning it into a minority government.
Zoabi did not inform Meretz chairman Nitzan Horowitz in advance of her decision, and Meretz learned about it from the media.

Rinawi-Zoabi's retirement came, she claims, due to the government's attitude toward Arab society.
"I can no longer support the existence of a coalition that is disgracefully harassing the society I came from," she wrote in a letter sent to Bennett and Lapid, which was published in the media before reaching his offices.
Later that day, Rinawi-Zoabi said she had reached the "point of no return," and would not be able to support the government.
The Knesset member also said that she has not yet decided whether to vote for or against the dissolution of the Knesset next Wednesday.
"I will not blow up this coalition automatically, but I can not continue like this," she continued.
"There is no way back from my decision to resign from the coalition. I will vote according to my conscience, we will see what happens."
