Unknown to the general public, Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, 46, is one of the government's surprise appointments.
Franco-Greek, born in Sparta in the Peloponnese, she was promoted this Friday to Secretary of State for Development, Francophonie and International Partnerships.
This trained gynecologist had stood out thanks to her fight to bring to light endometriosis, a disease which affects around 10% of French women.
As such, she received the National Order of Merit in 2017.

Committed during the pandemic
Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, who describes herself as a
"humanist"
, subsequently became a European deputy in 2019 under the colors of "Renaissance", the list of La République en Marche.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, she also became co-president of COVAX, an association whose objective is to make vaccines accessible to the poorest countries.
