The plenary meeting of the State Council reviewed the report on the election of Li Jiachao as the sixth chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and listened to the report of Xia Baolong, director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council.
Xia Baolong reported that the election of the chief executive was conducted in strict compliance with the Basic Law and relevant laws, which reflected the principles of openness, fairness and impartiality.
