Germering – Summer is here, more and more people are staying outside and enjoying the good weather.
But that is not always ideal.
Therefore, a few weeks ago, the CSU parliamentary group submitted an application to the environment and urban development committee for the protection of forests, fields and wild animals.
With targeted preventive measures, they now want to inform the public.
In order to achieve this protection of wild animals, information signs should be set up in the forest areas and on the agricultural fields around
Lake Germeringer
, in the
Kreuzlinger Forest
, in the
water protection area in the direction of Nebel
and in the
Moosschwaige
.
These are intended to inform citizens about the correct behavior in the forest and the fields and thus about the protection of trees, plants and animals.
The background to the application is the increasing use of natural areas around the city by joggers, cyclists, walkers, dog walkers and those looking for relaxation.
In the course of the corona pandemic, this use has increased again.
Pollution of nature is increasing
In principle, it is to be welcomed that people appreciate the nature around Germering and spend more time outdoors and in nature.
According to the applicants Manuela Kreuzmair, Johannes Kirmair and Benedikt Nesselhauf, this also has its downsides: Many visitors do not follow the paths, but walk directly through the undergrowth or across agricultural land.
This also applies to
cyclists
.
This behavior destroys plants and young tree shoots and thus the climate-protecting forest of tomorrow - it also put the animals under considerable stress.
In addition,
increasing littering
of the forests and fields can be seen, which not only threatens the ecosystem of the forest floor.
Wild animals would mistake rubbish for food and suffocate as a result.
Sharp increase in the number of deer killed
Another problem, according to the applicants, is free-roaming dogs, as many owners let their four-legged friends run through the forest without a leash.
Surveys of forest owners and responsible district hunters have shown that the number of deer killed by dogs is constantly increasing.
If there were
only
eight
deer killed in
2020 , the number in
2021
would be around
20
.
Initial surveys for the period from January to the end of April suggested that this trend in the number of deer killed would continue to increase.
No bans, just more information
In order to protect animals, forests and fields, the
CSU
relies on better information for citizens.
According to this, large information boards are to be set up at "forest entrances" and at the edges of paths in the corridor.
These should inform about the correct behavior in the forest and on the fields.
According to the applicants, this brings significantly more than bans.
However, it is not yet clear when the signs will be put up.
