A man resident in the Uruguayan department of Rocha, bordering Brazil, was arrested by the police and is in the power of justice as a suspect in the murder of the Argentine teenager Lola Chomnalez, in 2014, in the Valizas spa Javier Benech, director of communication for the Prosecutor's Office, told CNN.
It is about "a middle-aged man who lived in Rocha," said the spokesman, who did not give more details regarding his identity or legal situation.
The case is being investigated by the Rocha criminal judge, Juan Manuel Jiménez, and by the prosecutor Jessica Pereira.
They dictate preventive detention for 180 days to accused of gang rape that shocked Uruguay
Since Chomnalez was murdered, only one person had been arrested, but so far the author of the murder that shocked Uruguayans and Argentines is unknown.
The parents of the murdered young woman have not stopped demanding "truth and justice" for their daughter, who arrived from Argentina to Valizas on December 27, 2014 to spend her summer vacation there.
On December 30, she was found dead in the dunes near the local beach.
