Because she felt sorry for her students, who were plagued by Corona, a teacher from Regensburg told them the solutions for the final math exam.

Regensburg – It was an emotional case that was heard at the Regensburg district court earlier in the week.

A 57-year-old teacher was found guilty for giving middle school students the answers to an upcoming math test.

According to

idowa.de

, the teacher was insightful and cited Corona, or the consequences of the virus and the associated restrictions for her students, as the reason for her actions.

Corona at school: teacher with “self-defense against the virus”

Homeschooling and the lack of personal contact with teachers and classmates made the Corona years a difficult phase for students.

There is often talk of a collapse in school performance, and depression among the adolescents was not uncommon.

The 57-year-old teacher at the Vilsbiburg middle school was very moved - and in a knee-jerk reaction, the teacher revealed the solutions for the maths test to her students on the day of the qualifying test.

According to idowa.de

, a former supervisor in court described the teacher's actions

as "self-defense against the virus" .

Corona: Teacher sends her students the exam solutions - court hearing

The 68-year-old witness before the Regensburg district court went on to say that it was very important to her that her corona-stricken students did not have the same opportunities as other years before.

The teacher herself said she felt incredibly responsible.

On the day of the exam, July 14, 2021, in a brief moment when she was alone with the exams and their results, the teacher sent her students photos of the solutions via WhatsApp.

The students then had five minutes to memorize the solutions and work out possible solutions – then the exams at the Realschule in Bavaria began.

Corona: Violation of official secrecy – the court gives a mild verdict

She immediately knew that she had made a mistake, the teacher tells the court, according to

idowa.de

.

She asked the students to delete the messages immediately – and the young people complied.

However, the educator then reported her offense to the school authority and the criminal police herself.

The court now issued a warning – the mildest sentence.

However, with reservations: A further offense would result in a fine.

Previously, the public prosecutor's office had demanded such a severe fine, among other things because a whole year had to repeat the exam.

Corona equally bad for everyone?

Court disagrees with prosecutors

Corona has affected everyone – but the virus does not justify a crime.

The court, presided over by judge Markus Brümmer, did not agree.

The students were particularly affected, idowa.de

quoted

the verdict.

One can sympathize with the teacher and she is anything but a criminal, says Brümmer.

The 57-year-old now has to pay 500 euros to the non-profit association “AnsWerk”.

Then a disciplinary procedure from the Ministry of Education awaits the teacher.

In the end, however, she wants to continue working as a teacher again – she cannot imagine any other profession.
