The Advanced Manufacturing Centre (AMC), a provider-specific and full-service production base, opened last month.

Located in Tseung Kwan O Innovation Park, AMC is equipped with Asia's first advanced production equipment that integrates automation and smart logistics solutions, with a floor area of ​​nearly 1.1 million square meters. Different industries such as smart electronic devices, biomedical products and robotics are expected to accommodate 2,500 I&T professionals to promote high-end manufacturing and assist enterprises in accelerating the production process from local R&D to manufacturing.

The Science and Technology Park has repositioned three industrial estates in Yuen Long, Tai Po and Tseung Kwan O as "Innovation Parks" (INNOPARK) since last year.

High-efficiency workshop, strong load-bearing capacity, intelligent logistics technology to improve efficiency, separation of people and goods

AMC with high-efficiency workshops has a total floor area of ​​1.1 million square feet, 8 floors high, each floor is as high as 6 meters, the distance between columns is 12 meters by 12 meters, and the floor load per square meter is 1.5 tons. Provide a scalable, efficient and dedicated logistics service production space, which is different from general multi-storey industrial buildings.

In addition to providing complete "wind, fire, water, and electricity" facilities such as three-phase industrial electricity, 24-hour chilled water, and dangerous goods warehouses, it also adopts a high-efficiency automatic warehouse system.

The center is powered by logistics service provider DB Schenker to practice intelligent logistics solutions; at the same time, it is equipped with a mechanical production line to automatically load, unload, transport or put goods on and off shelves with unmanned forklifts and robotic arms. Goods separation and 24-hour operation.

The floors also use anti-static epoxy resin and other high-level and smooth floors to help the robot operate stably.

At present, more than 10 companies are negotiating or are about to enter AMC, which is expected to become a manufacturing base for advanced manufacturing industries such as medical equipment, biomedical instruments, intelligent electronic devices, smart sensors, robots or electronic technology.

Science and Technology Park Continues Investment to Expand I&T Ecosystem Program AMC 2.0 Supports Food Manufacturing

Yao Qingliang, senior director of re-industrialization of the Science and Technology Park Corporation, explained that the long and high-cost process of setting up factories often discourages the industry. "Pain point" to build a factory that meets the needs, equipped with advanced production equipment and testing processes, which will help to practice technological innovation and become a world-class production base dedicated to advanced manufacturing.

In addition, AMC will provide a longer term lease of at least 6 years to increase the confidence of enterprises to invest in Hong Kong.

The center also has a shared platform, ProShop, with an area of ​​more than 3,000 square meters. It provides three-dimensional printing machines, dust-free workshops, small-scale and diverse electronic assembly production lines and other facilities for enterprises to conduct prototype trial production and small-scale assembly production, helping them transform innovative concepts into market product.

To further promote "innovative manufacturing", it is necessary not only to support supporting facilities and hard and soft resources, but also to assist traditional and start-up companies at different stages of development through investment.

Huang Keqiang, CEO of the Science and Technology Park Corporation, said frankly that the asset management scale of the "Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Venture Capital Fund" has increased to HK$600 million and has invested in 23 technology companies. In 2018, companies in the park also successfully raised more than 68 billion yuan and made 220 investment cases.” He expects that the entire innovation and technology ecosystem can be bigger and drive the overall innovation and technology development.

With the completion of the Data Technology Center (DT Hub), Medical Products Manufacturing Center (MARS) and Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) in the Innovation Park, the government has also invited the Science and Technology Park to conceive the idea of ​​developing "AMC 2.0".
