In terms of franchised buses, the number of passengers in February was about 58 million, a decrease of 39.89 million or 40.1% month-on-month; compared with February 2021, the number of passengers decreased by 27.44 million, a decrease of 32.1%.
For example, compared with the "SARS" period in April 2003, there were about 100 million person-times at that time, with an average of 3.35 million person-times per day; on the contrary, in February this year, there were only 2.07 million person-times, a decrease of 38.1%.
Looking through the data, the population of Hong Kong in 2003 was also smaller than it is now. At that time, the population of Hong Kong was about 6.81 million; at the end of 2021, it was about 7.4 million, about 590,000 more than that year, or about 8.66% more.
However, the total passenger volume of the above-mentioned two modes of transportation is less than that of the previous year.
Railways are the most used public transport in Hong Kong, accounting for 39.5% of passengers; franchised buses come in second, accounting for 31.9%.

As for minibuses, the number of passengers in February was 28.65 million, a decrease of 33.5% month-on-month, a decrease of 14.46 million; compared with a year earlier, the number of passengers decreased by 8.05 million, a decrease of 21.9%.
As for taxis, the number of passengers in the month was 15.7 million, a decrease of 26.4% month-on-month, a decrease of 5.64 million passengers; a year-on-year decrease of 18.5%, a decrease of 3.55 million passengers.
The number of ferries in the whole month was only 1.6 million, down 920,000, or 36.5%, and 1.24 million, down 43.5% year-on-year.
