The trend towards camping is unbroken

Campsite operators and mobile home rental companies have prepared well for the season.

If you want a parking space, you have to be quick.

- Quite idyllically next to the Stallauer Weiher, with a fantastic view of the forest and mountains, the operators of the Demmelhof campsite are preparing for the start of the most beautiful time of the year.

Although the Demmel family is open all year round, the season usually starts in May.

"We were quite well attended at Easter, but things really get going after the public holiday at the end of May," reports Sepp Demmel, who runs the family business.

“The camping industry is one of the few to benefit from Corona.

But many of us have had record years for a long time.

However, we are desperately looking for people,” says Demmel.

Committing employees all year round is difficult.

Corona and the associated uncertainty would have driven many employees to other jobs.

“In addition, the demands of campsite visitors are growing.

But that's understandable.

We also want to keep getting better ourselves.”

Anton Egold sees it the same way.

The Königsdorf campsite has been a two-family business for more than 50 years.

Here, too, we know that today's customers demand more convenience.

That is why a lot has been invested in the Bibisee.

“We rebuilt the washing building.

In the meantime, even campsite operators from other federal states come to see it,” says Egold proudly.

Nevertheless, they try to treat the visitors fairly in terms of price.

"Only glamping is not possible", says Egold with regard to the trend towards luxury camping.

“The price range still has to be right.

I want people to get a good deal and I want to offer them something at the same time.”

If you ask the campsite operators in the district, it quickly becomes clear that many companies are doing well.

But success has also left its mark.

"The last two years have been crazy," says Egold.

"It was very exhausting, I can only describe it as turbo stress." Outdoor adventures are more popular than ever.

This trend appears to be continuing this summer.

People who dream of camping holidays now have to plan early.

Many places are fully booked, especially during the summer holidays.

Some vacationers want to rent an RV.

Here, too, speed is of the essence.

"Everything is tight when it comes to renting," says Thomas Bader, who works for the company CSL Reisemobile in Brunnthal near Munich.

“There are a few last minute offers.

However, it is no longer as spontaneous as it used to be.

You have to know when you want to go where so that there is space available.” CSL Reisemobile builds many camper vans based on panel vans.

Due to the built-in solar system and size, this type of vehicle is not necessarily tied to a parking space.

“We notice that camping holidaymakers want to be more independent.

They want flexibility, independence and peace and quiet.” Bader also sees the trend towards camping unbroken.

However, even in his industry it is difficult to get enough vehicles delivered - no matter

Sepp Demmel is already looking forward to his guests.

“Some are regular customers.

They feel comfortable here because we are not necessarily a five-star campsite.

We don't have a sauna area, but we are in nature.

It's quaint.

A bit like 20 years ago.

The people love that here.” The guests come primarily from Germany, Holland and France.

But Australians have also enjoyed their holidays here.

The Demmelhof and the campsite at the Bibisee can look forward to awards from various industry media.

"It's an honor when you're repeatedly voted one of the most popular campsites in Europe," says Demmel happily.

"But the most important thing is that everyone is fine, they are enjoying their holiday and we are all aware that we can be satisfied."
