In the district of Passau, a car was fished out of the Danube that had been missing for six years.
The BMW was washed into the river during the devastating 2016 floods.
Obernzell - During a routine inspection of the Danube fairway, the Passau Waterways and Shipping Authority made an unusual discovery: an entire car was stuck in the river bed near Obernzell.
The BMW X1 was washed into the Danube during the bad storm in July 2016 and has since been considered lost.

Six years after severe flooding: BMW reappears in the Danube
According to the police, the car was lifted out of the river on Thursday (May 19) using an excavator.
At the same time, a three-ton boulder was pulled onto the bank, which also blocked the Danube river bed.
Although the car was under water for so long, the owner could still be identified and informed about the find.
"Only the vehicle registration document could be found in the completely destroyed BMW, which, in contrast to the car itself, looked as good as new," according to the Passau traffic police.
