Starting in the afternoon, followers of two rival factions in Gur Hasidism will clash with each other, after Pashkvil published today.
Many Jerusalem District police forces are working near the Mea Shearim neighborhood and Jeremiah Street to restore order, while trying to create a buffer between the hawk camps.
So far, a number of followers have been lightly injured, and one policeman has been hit by a stone thrown at him.
Gur Hassidism is the largest and most powerful Hassidic court in Israel.
The Chassidut was headed by the Admor Rabbi Yaakov Aryeh Alter. Upon taking office, the Admor began to make far-reaching changes in the Chassidut.
"He has defined more and more regulations over the years, which have strengthened his status and caused the Hasidic community to radicalize with him," explained Yossi Rubinstein, a former Gur follower.
The Rebbe's decisions provoked severe tension within the Chassidut, and he was confronted by none other than his cousin, Rabbi Shaul Alter, the son of the previous Rebbe - Rabbi Pinchas Menachem, known as "Rosh Yeshiva".
Rabbi Shaul Alter swept away several hundred patriarchal houses.
Earlier today, Pashkvil was published on behalf of Rabbi Shaul Alter's trustees, stating: "In this state of affairs, as far as protest and persecution are concerned, we have no ability to ask our peacekeepers not to defend and protest as required by halakhah."
Following the publication of Pashkvil, riots broke out between the two Hasidic factions, in a number of centers in Jerusalem.
