Russian media reported that the acting commander of the 36th Brigade of the Ukrainian Marine Corps, Sergey Volynsky, who surrendered to Russian forces at the Azovstal factory in Mariupol, confirmed the presence of foreign militants among the fighters who were trapped in the factory.
"Yes, there are a number of foreign fighters," Volynsky was quoted as saying in response to a question after his surrender about the presence of foreigners on the factory lands, indicating that he did not have information about the presence of supervisors and senior specialists among whom were issuing instructions to the Ukrainian forces.
Yesterday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the complete liberation of the Azovstal region in the city of Mariupol and the complete control of the basements of the factory, where the Ukrainian militants had been trapped for weeks.
