Empty chairs in the halls: During the corona pandemic, it was dreary in the event forum.

But those times are over.

It's buzzing again in Fürstenfeld - especially when it comes to congresses and seminars.

There is still a need to catch up in the cultural sector.

Fürstenfeldbruck – A babble of voices welcomes visitors to the event forum on their way to the many conference rooms.

People chatting in the aisle with coffee cups and pretzels in hand.

Every room, including the threshing floor, is occupied.

"It's almost like it used to be without Corona," says Norbert Leinweber, head of the event forum.

Sure, it's not like that every day.

But more and more often.

Because with the relaxation of the pandemic regulations, the conference guests are also coming back to Fürstenfeld.

"It's approaching the old level."

major events

The major events are also returning to Fürstenfeld.

The fly fishing fair and nature photo days did not set any new visitor records, but they did attract people again, reports Leinweber.

Some of the Animuc were even fully booked.

Now the Fürstenfeld Garden Days are coming up over the Pentecost weekend - one of the biggest fairs of the year.

In addition, there are other special events such as the choir festival or magic congress and the cycle race as part of the European Championships.

The Fürstenfeld location benefits from the media interest, says Leinweber.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.)

The restaurants are also feeling that there is more going on on the site.

"Companies that had to wait two years book quite suddenly," says Gerhard Kohlfürst, Managing Director of the Fürstenfelder.

This presents him with a number of challenges in terms of personnel.

"We were lucky and were able to almost close the staff gaps." Especially cooks who have switched from canteens.

The reason: since many employees are still working from home, this is being reduced.

So you could attract one or the other.

Especially since a lot of cooking has to be done during the day for conferences, so the working hours are relatively similar.

Temporary workers welcome

In the hotel, which has more overnight guests again, people are also making ends meet, although there is still a need.

Kohlfürst is also still looking for temporary workers – because only ten of the original 35 to 40 have remained.

He used a trick for the Garden Days: “Many temporary workers enjoyed working at the Garden Days.” So he contacted the alumni to ask if they would like to come to this event.

"And a lot of people actually got in touch." The restaurant manager is currently looking optimistically into the summer.

"I'm still afraid of autumn," he says in view of the threat of aggravation with increasing incidences.

Norbert Leinweber also speaks of a "hopeful time".

It is only in the cultural sector that you can still sense some reluctance among the viewers.

The subscription series went quite well.

"But selling individual tickets isn't that easy." Artists who want to perform, on the other hand, would have no problem.

Leinweber is sticking to the 100 percent fresh air in the rooms in order to make cultural enjoyment as safe as possible without the obligation to wear masks and social distancing.

You will only switch to circulating air at much lower incidences.

Even if this results in slightly higher energy costs.

The financial impact of the corona pandemic - fewer events, short-time work and corona money - will only become clear when the first figures for the current year are available, says Leinweber.

"But I'm optimistic that we'll stick to the economic plan."
