British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss revealed her country's intention to send modern weapons to Moldova under the pretext of "confronting Russia".
"I would like to see Moldova equipped to NATO standards," Trace told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper. "This is a discussion we are having with our allies."
Trass added that "talks are underway to ensure that Moldova's defenses can deter any attack in the future," in a clear reference to the use of the pretext of "confronting Russia" to justify the new move to arm Moldova.
With the continuation of the Ukrainian crisis, Britain and its NATO allies are trying to exploit the country of Moldova, which borders Ukraine in the southwest, and turn it into a new tool to promote allegations of a “Russian threat.” European Council President Charles Michel promised earlier this month that the EU would consider increasing military support for Moldova.
This comes at a time when the Moldovan Defense Ministry confirmed this month that media reports claiming that there is a "threat of a Russian invasion" of the country's territory are incorrect.
